Origin City is a staunchly British restaurant located in West Smithfield, a stone’s throw from Farringdon station. It offers a variety of private dining, semi-private dining, banqueting and drinks reception options, with spaces for both small and large groups. Whether it’s for a corporate event, a reunion with friends or a big birthday, the team at Origin City promise to do everything they can to make it a night to remember.
The restaurant can accommodate up to 60 seated guests, or 120 standing, for a large private dining event with friends or colleagues. Alternatively, smaller groups can hire a semi-private space for up to 16 guests. Interiors wise, high ceilings, sophisticated tweed-back banquettes and white linen tablecloths create a feeling of grandeur, yet the atmosphere is very welcoming.
The dishes are based around a pasture-to-plate approach to cooking and showcase the very best organic and heritage breed meats from the restaurant’s farm in Argyll, Scotland. Meanwhile, seafood comes from its sister aquafarm, Loche Fyne Oysters, while many of its wines are sourced from the family’s organic vineyard in Provence. Needless to say, a focus on using the best quality produce is paramount here.
The six course tasting menu embodies Origin City’s concept, and is created by executive chef Graham Chatham and his team. Dishes include charcuterie and pickles, Black Angus steak tartare, Texel lamb with salt baked neeps, and baked Braeburn apple and Calvados ice cream to finish.
There are also a plethora of delicious dishes to choose from on the a la carte menu. To start, you could opt for grilled Morteau sausage served with Puy lentils. Then, there are a variety of meat, fish and vegetarian dishes to choose from, including skate wing served with Scottish mussels, brown shrimps and samphire, or black pig cut of the day.
