Origin City is a unique, nose-to-tail dining experience in Argyll, based around the family-owner's on-site farm. The concept pays attention to the no-waste movement, while also celebrating the best of British cuisine, Scottish produce and Provençal art de vivre.
The menu's concept revolves around using the freshest, tastiest and closest-available ingredients with only organic traditional heritage meats being sourced, such as Black Aberdeen Angus, Large Black and Tamworth outdoor-reared pigs, and Texel lamb, all from the family farm in Argyll, Scotland. Impressively, seafood is sourced from the sister aquafarm, Loch Fyne Oysters, and the wine list even features bottles from their organic family vineyard, in Provence, alongside a specially curated selection of apéritifs and amaros.
So, whether it be a Christmas celebration for colleagues, friends or family, if you're celebrating with a bunch of foodies, Origin City is sure to impress - as well as make you look like a total legend for choosing it! But, all of the team's efforts haven't solely gone into the food. Oh no, the restaurant itself is a visual wonder. Grounded in muted, earthy tones, with high ceilings and mid century-style furniture, the space feels relaxed, airy and sophisticated. Combined with white tablecloths and striking artworks, this is a gorgeous place for a special occasion and bringing people together at the best time of the year.
In terms of what you can expect specifically from the menu, the selection of dishes changes daily so it will be somewhat of a surprise, no doubt, with a seasonal twist. But, for an example of past menus you can check out the website which shows previous starters as black pig terrine with celeriac remoulade, as well as Black Angus steak tartare with watercress and radish. Previous mains have looked like stone bass with warm Olivier salad, as well as pork faggots with apple and sage, plus sides of triple cooked beef dripping chips.
