Milton Keynes is a relatively new town. It was created in the 1960s as an answer to the housing crisis in London, and is one of the largest new towns ever erected. Its location is equidistant from London, Birmingham, Leicester, Oxford and Cambridge, making it an ideal location for commuters working in some of the UK’s most major cities.
Now, Milton Keynes is home to Red Bull Racing, MK Dons and the Milton Keynes Lightning ice hockey team. It is also one of the most economically productive areas in the UK. After trying and failing to gain city status in the years 2000, 2002 and 2012, Milton Keynes was finally given its time to shine in 2022 when the Crown Office announced that Queen Elizabeth II had given the Borough of Milton Keynes city status.
Milton Keynes is also home to some of England’s most iconic sporting superstars including ex-Olympian Greg Rutherford and the captain of England’s women’s national team, Leah Williamson OBE. One of the reasons people visit Milton Keynes is for its indoor ski slope, so they can get some practice in before heading on their ski holiday!
Fun facts aside, the city also boasts its share of restaurants and private dining rooms so you can celebrate with friends, family and colleagues over great food and drink.
