Franklin & Baines is a newly-opened buzzy steak joint in South London, offering - what they claim - are some of the best, dry aged, grass fed steaks in the business, alongside smaller European-style plates. The restaurant has a great location in Clapham, close to the hustle and bustle of the area's pubs and bars, and a short walk from Clapham High Street and Clapham North stations. If you're looking for a place to throw a birthday party or important dinner, Franklin & Baines is a great choice.
Of course, there's the convenience of its location and great transport links, ideal for guests travelling from all over London. And then, there's the crowd-pleasing menu. Kick things off with a selection of small plates, which make for ideal starters shared amongst a group. We like the sound of burrata with grilled peaches, watercress and mint, alongside sea bass ceviche with mango, avocado, red onions and coriander, as well as in-house cured beetroot and dill salmon with pickled cucumber and horseradish cream. Franklin & Baines is all about the steaks, so when choosing your main course, you'll want to take a look at the grill section. Here, you'll find an expansive range of cuts including hanger, flat iron, sirloin, rump, tomahawk and t-bone, all of which are served with in-house cut beef dripping chips. There's plenty of other delicious sides, too. So, if chips aren't your thing, get stuck into the likes of truffled mac and cheese, creamed spinach and broccoli and almonds, as well as sauces such as blue cheese, garlic butter or bone marrow.
If anyone in your party isn't a huge meat eater, there are plenty of other mains to try like pan fried hake with chorizo, Jersey Royals and romesco sauce, or broccoli steak with quinoa salad, tomato salsa and toasted almonds. As for numbers, there's space for 40 people to be catered for, and you're welcome to take over the restaurant, or the rooftop in summer.
