Chotto Matte began in 2013, borne out of founder and owner Kurt Zdesar's passion for Nikkei cuisine, bringing together the flavour-packed, vibrant cultures of Japan and Peru in one space. Now, the brand has six locations, two of which can be found in London. While the Soho branch is in the heart of the action in Central, you have to try the Marylebone site, too.
Available to hire an impressive seven days a week, you can treat your guests for either lunch or dinner here, and the team are well-equipped to help plan your event be in a birthday, corporate function, wedding or anything else you might throw at them! The space is designed by Andy Martin to introduce diners immediately to the world of Chotto Matte with features like bold graffiti, lavastone and shou sugi ban wood.
You'll be spoilt for choice when it comes to the menus, which are put together by executive chef Jordan Sclare, and offer tasting menus, sharing menus and a selection of steaks. Taking a look at the sample menu, we think the wild sea bass sashimi with leche de tigre, chive oil, sweet potato and Peruvian corn sounds brilliant, as does the Argentinian red prawn truffle or the Japanese grade A5 wagyu sirloin beef with truffle teriyaki sauce.
In terms of the space, the restaurant is set on one level and boasts two main spaces. The central dining room is rich and moody, with teal-toned booths, dark walls and Japanese-style, sleek wooden furnishings. While, at the back you'll find the laid-back lounge with a playful, multicolour bar and soft seating. Take over the entire thing and invite 60 guests for a seated meal or 100, if you were picturing drinks and canapes.
The team are on hand to help with planning your event and will do whatever they can to ensure it suits your needs - from live entertainment to personalised menus, just give them a call.
