If you haven't heard of Brother Marcus, where have you been? What's now a household name in Angel and beyond, started in 2016 when trio of friends Arthur, Alex and Tas dreamed up a relaxed, all-day dining concept which focused on bringing people together. True to concept, they named the restaurant after someone who embodies this spirit perfectly, Alex's little brother Marcus, who is known for making fast friends with just about anyone.
While there are now sites in Covent Garden, Borough Yards, Spitalfields and South Kensington, the Angel restaurant is the original. It's easy to see why they picked this location; stowed away on the Camden Passage, this charming, little street has been well featured in film and TV for its quaint, classically London feel, and close by you'll find plenty of independent bars, boutiques and authentic pubs.
So, if you're planning a special occasion, we think Brother Marcus Angel makes total sense. As mentioned, its brilliant location is close to all the best North London nightlife if you fancy carrying the party on, and Angel tube station is quite literally a few minutes walk. Then, there's the space itself, which works for intimate gatherings and larger soirees, like standing drinks receptions for birthdays, engagement parties, networking or business events.
The vibe here is stylish but laid-back, with a beachy feel. Think a mix of natural, clay-hued tones on the walls, exposed brick and earthy materials, such as woven pendants which dangle from the ceiling. We particularly like the living wall behind the bar, which brings a flash of verdancy to the space. You can book a table of 16 people, host up to 60 seated, or 80 standing.
As for the food, Brother Marcus is known for brunch classics, but for a party their mezze selection is ideal for sharing. Think fresh herb and freekeh salad, alongside crispy calamari, and roasted chicken with sun-dried tomato harissa.
