Brother Marcus has long been known in the capital for being a great all rounder, serving up delicious brunch classics and a great all-day drinks menu in an easy going environment with friendly staff. The original can be found along the charming Camden Passage in Angel, a perfect spot for meeting friends, family or even for a date, with plenty of indepedent bars nearby.
The brand started back in 2016, the brainchild of friends Arthur, Alex and Tas who named the concept after Alex’s little brother Marcus, famed for being a brilliant friend and general favourite of the group. His positive outlook and fun-loving spirit is at the heart of the restaurants.
The Camden Passage site has an airy feel with light-hued interiors, a living wall of plants and wooden furniture. Woven pendants offer a beachy aesthetic, paired with clay-coloured walls and exposed brick. Relaxed but stylish, the space also caters for private dining events with capacity of 16 for a large lunch or dinner, or exclusive hire of 60 seated or 80 standing, so bear it in mind for your next bash.
Now, let's get down to the good stuff: food! The menu is split into breakfast, brunch and all day dishes but the brunch offering is particularly well loved. For example, you could start with the mouth-watering Kefir fried chicken and crispy potato rosti, topped with two fried eggs and drizzled with kasundi jam. For something sweet, there's the caramelised pistachios and granola with poached pear, yogurt and dark chocolate flakes, or the brioche, which is considered a bit of a signature, with lemon cardamom curd, cheesecake cream, cardamom meringues, caramelised pistachios and
candied lemon peel. We mean, wow?
Mezze works well for day-to-evening with smaller, sharing plates like prawn bisque striftoudi pasta alongside crispy calamari and charred celeriac, turmeric and lemon and dill aioli. There's also a selection of dips and fluffy pita bread to complement.
