Brampton is a village in Cambridgeshire and lies within Huntingdonshire. Whilst the population isn't huge in Brampton, what is great is the beauty that surrounds this village. Brampton was known over the years under many names, from Brantune and Brantone to Bramptone and Brauntone. Finally, Brampton was settled on in the 13th century. The village is perhaps best known as the base of RAF Brampton, the home to the JARIC Intelligence Centre. Today, you can still visit the Church of St Mary Magdalene, where most of the building dates back to the 14th century and a few 12th century features remain. There isn't a huge deal to do in this village with a primary school, garden centre and award winning restaurant, but that's how lots of locals like it. For a relaxed yet very fun day out, enjoy the tearoom, art shop, grab a pastry from the bakery and take in the beauty of the historic cottages.
