Tucked away near Kingly Court in Soho, Bar Crispin is a charming restaurant and favourite among locals. What some might not be aware of, however, is that it also has a stylish private dining room for up to 14 seated guests: The Greenroom. Designed by Jermaine Gallacher, the space features hand-painted lights and emerald walls, ideal for a celebratory dinner or intimate event. For larger groups, the whole restaurant can be hired out, allowing up to 34 seated guests.
There is an exciting selection of canapes for drinks receptions or standing events. These include classics like smoked salmon with creme fraiche and dill, burrata with crushed tomato on toast and cheese croquettes, as well as more unusual combinations like smoked cod's roe with cucumber and tarragon, sardines with garlic butter and crispy polenta with aioli and parmesan. Meaty options like fried chicken with chilli mayo and crispy pork belly with brown sauce.
For sit-down meals, however, the menu is considerably heartier. You and your guests can start things off with Flor sourdough with cultured butter, burrata with Le Coste olive oil and Cobble Lane Cured charcuterie or smoked salmon with creme fraiche and dill. After that, enjoy a choice between slow-cooked ox cheek, confit duck legs, slow-cooked lamb shank or roasted butternut squash. All meat mains come with wine and parsley sauce, beef fat roasted root veg and dressed greens, while the squash comes with blue cheese and walnuts. Finish off with a dessert like sticky toffee pudding for a private dinner you and your guests won't soon forget.
The wine list changes regularly, but diners can expect a great selection of low-intervention wines no matter what. Bottles are organised by region, split into continental, maritime and Mediterranean, so diners can easily pair wines themselves if they so wish. There's a good selection of sparkling too, perfect for celebrations, including Champagne, Cremant, Prosecco and more. Non-wine options include aperitivi like negronis or vespers, as well as vermouth, cider, beer and mezcal.
