Baccala is a neighbourhood Italian restaurant and wine bar in Bermondsey serving small plates and Italian wines, with a focus on fresh seafood. Offering a welcoming and convivial atmosphere, matched with friendly service and lovingly-cooked dishes, it’s well-suited to informal, celebratory dinners. The restaurant is available to book for private dining with multiple hire options across its two floors, as well as an alfresco area perfect for summer events.
The main dining room on the ground floor can be booked for up to 30 guests and features a variety of seating, including counter dining and tables and chairs. Central to the space is the counter bar which allows diners to catch a glimpse of the chefs working their magic in the kitchen.
For slightly small groups, head downstairs to its basement dining room which can hold up to 20 guests. This space also features an open kitchen for guests to experience a spot of cooking theatre, while enjoying the exclusive vibe of this cosy underground hideaway. Do note that Bacca offers exclusive hire of both floors for private dinners of up to 50 people.
Fancy adding an alfresco element to your event? The street terrace outside can be hired for a further 14 guests which provides the perfect setting for relaxed outdoor dining in the summer.
The menu focuses entirely on seafood with a range of small and large sharing plates available. Examples include roasted octopus with marinated peppers, lard and olives, prawn and lemon linguine, salted cod with sauteed escarole and yellow datterino, and monkfish with celeriac, artichokes and almonds.
The wine list is just as important as the food, and you can expect a lengthy Italian wine list sourced from 20 wine regions in Italy, mostly from small producers. Wines available by the glass change daily.
