Hotels often have excellent private dining rooms and the four-star Strand Palace Hotel is no exception. The hotel’s restaurant, Haxells, now was a dedicated room perfect for intimate meals and celebrations. The room can host up to 50 guests for standing receptions, 18 at one table boardroom style, 25 in a U-shape and 40 at smaller tables or theatre style. Any booking here includes complimentary WiFi and a sound system for you to connect your device to. The space itself is elegantly furnished, with dark walls, plush seating and ornate lighting. It’s versatile too, equipped to host everything from family gatherings to business meetings.
Drinks packages are available, starting with the ‘little tipple’, which includes a selection of bottled beers, house wines, soft drinks and water. The ‘crowd-pleaser’ includes all of this plus house spirits, while the most decadent package adds house Champagne too. If you would prefer to choose your wine, there is a great selection of old and new-world bottles, with a couple of options by the glass too. British beers like Camden Hells and London Pride are available, as are global brews like Peroni, Corona and Budweiser.
When it comes to food, meanwhile, diners can choose between two or three courses, with a few choices for each. You and your guests might start with a classic chicken Caesar salad, tomato and mozzarella with pesto or a quinoa salad with pomegranate and beetroot hummus. From there, meat-eaters can opt for the lamb rump with aubergine puree, pescetarians the roast cod with saffron potato and aioli, and vegetarians a wild mushroom risotto with a parmesan crisp. For dessert, options include a decadent vanilla creme brulee, chocolate coulant with vanilla custard, sorbet selection with granola or a British cheese platter for a small additional fee.
