Looking for a sophisticated place to host friends, family, colleagues or clients, for a meal in central London? Well, it doesn't get much more central than The National Gallery, which is where you'll find modern Spanish restaurant Barrafina Adelaide Street. If you're not familiar with the Barrafina chain, you really should be. This boutique group now has five locations across London and are well loved for their delicious sharing plates and contemporary take on Spanish cuisine. In other words, this place is a crowd pleaser, so you're in safe hands when it comes to group dining.
Barrafina Adelaide Street is home to a charming, exclusive-use space which boasts a statement, circular ceiling, central dining table and open kitchen, so you and your guests can see the chefs work their magic. We think it certainly ups the ante and brings a special something to your dinner. Here, you can fit between eight and 30 people around a table, or up to 50 people if planning a standing drinks and bites reception.
To make things easy, the team have prepared a selection of feasting-style menus to share amongst your group, which can be chosen beforehand. There's plenty of choice, with each menu focusing on a different key ingredient. For example, the chicken feasting menu promises starters of pimientos de padrón and banderilla, followed by spatchcock chicken with romesco, served with confit potatoes with onion and herbs, plus green salad.
Or, why not enjoy the vegetarian and vegan menu which heros a main of tumbet, which is a traditional vegetable dish from Majorca with layers of sliced potatoes, aubergines and green pepper, cooked with tomato sauce. If you'd prefer a standing affair, there's plenty of smaller dishes, too, such as classic tortillas, chorizo with potato and chicken wing confit romesco. The choice is all yours.
