Looking to make a statement for your next event? If you're on the hunt for a unique venue in Somerset, the Clockspire is a stunning, multi-level restaurant which combines historic architecture, stylish interior design, stand-out service and seasonal food, set against the Somerset borderline.
Built in 1864 by Sir William Medlycott, this dramatic building was once a schoolhouse and while its guises may have changed over the years, the Clockspire team have given it the care and attention it so deserves with a modern revamp. Think polished concrete floors, statement chandeliers and stone walls, complemented with sleek furnishings and plenty of atmosphere. We should also take a moment for the arched ceiling, made up an intricate pattern of oak beams, its a beautiful feature unique to the building.
All types of events are welcome at The Clockspire - from birthday parties and corporate functions to weddings and brand launches - with each one being uniquely designed. There are three spaces to choose from, starting with the central restaurant which is the large space you see when first walking in. Here, there is capacity for 30 people and it benefits from incredible, soaring windows which flood the area with light.
Next up, the West Wing has capacity for up to 40 people and is a slightly cosier space, decked out with luxurious curtains, banquette seating and large artworks. And, finally, the Mezzanine Bar is a beautiful place to host a standing event, with space for 40 people. With high bar stools in rich colours and a marble-topped bar, it ticks all the design boxes.
In terms of food, the head chef creates a selection of seasonal menus throughout the year but these can absolutely be tailored to suit your tastes. An example of dishes from the current sample menu include Cornish cod with octopus ragu, pine, pickled fennel and apple, alongside slow cooked beef fillet, truffled mash potato and purple sprouting broccoli.
