Barn venues are more popular than ever thanks to that country-chic aesthetic that looks as beautiful in real life as it does on Pinterest. If you're planning a special event in Wiltshire, there might be several options that tick the 'artfully rustic' box, but we doubt any will do it quite as well as Bowerchalke Barn.
Bowerchalke Barn was built in 1690, built from locally sourced Elm and has been lovingly preserved since then, so that many of its original features are still here today. Think an exposed timber frame, picture-perfect thatched roof, and wrought iron chandeliers hand-crafted by the resident blacksmith which hang through the barn ablaze with candlelight. The space is big, too. In terms of capacity, there's space for 130 people and the structure boasts three large double opening doors and one main sliding door which leads out to an impressive 1200 acres of farmland. Inside, the team have been careful to kit the barn out with furnishings that complement its aesthetic, such as a large oak barrel bar, banquet tables and lime washed crossed back chairs.
We're also seriously impressed by their commitment to keeping the toilets on theme, which are luxury shepherd hut loos. Step outside, and you're invited to use the grounds to make your event even more special. You could organise a lounge area or wedding ceremony which uses hay bales for seats, host outdoor games which work especially well for team days out, fire up the fire pits or even add a marquee to create another area for your guests to socialise. And, if you're looking for somewhere nearby for your guests to stay, you should consider the glamping area which can be organised to suit your guests.
While catering isn't included in-house, the dedicated team can help you find all the best suppliers in the area and will guide you through planning your event with support from start to finish.
