Blackfriars is a historically affluent part of London, which has transformed itself into a hub of modernity. But there is still a lot of variety when it comes to event venues in Blackfriars - from conference centres and grand halls to nightclubs and sustainable options. You’ll find buildings that are hundreds of years old, more modern, and lots of Victorian structures in Blackfriars, home to corporate offices, beautiful apartments and shops. There are three bridges that take people from one side of the Thames to the other, but in Blackfriars, you can get a river taxi to Bankside or Embankment. When you take a stroll down the riverfront in Blackfriars, you’ll see the popular Mermaid Theatre. Best known for the train station of the same name that stretches across the River Thames, the name Blackfriars originally referred to a mediaeval friary on the north bank.
