In a city full of amazing Christmas party spots, you don't get many quite like PocketSquare Skyline Bar and Terrace. Situated on the ninth floor of the Hyatt Place London City East Hotel, PocketSquare towers over nearby Whitechapel, Brick Lane and Aldgate, offering up stunning skyline views of the capital.
PocketSquare is only available for exclusive hire, so if you decide to host a Christmas party here, you and up to 80 guests have the whole ninth floor to yourself for an evening. This striking, colourful space has lots of life to it - the chairs are upholstered in shades of red and green, which pop off the ultramarine walls, and a geometric theme carries through the artwork on the walls and on the cushions and furnishings. As you'd expect on the ninth floor, the space is bright and airy, as light spills through floor-to-ceiling windows which open out onto a terrace area. The terrace, naturally, is where you'll find those incredible skyline views, and there are plenty of tables and chairs outside so your group can head outside to enjoy sunset over the city.
Meanwhile, PocketSquare's team has you well covered on the food and drink front. A compact but eclectic menu of small bites (think steamed tiger prawn bao buns, salt beef sliders, oyster tempura and muddled meringues) come with suggested cocktail pairings. The cocktail list is just as intriguing, including inventive combinations like the Aqua Vita (vodka, banna liquer and strawberry bitters), the Taiyo (Roku gin, yuzu and plum wine) and the Eyrie (Macallan 12 year, pear and thyme puree and porter reduction). Each cocktail has been designed to be drunk with a dish on the menu, showing some real sky-high ambition here that matches the views.
