Holly is a Junior Writer at SquareMeal, responsible for writing content across the brand’s channels and creating engaging, trending video content for its social media accounts.
Holly’s Experience
Holly started off down a completely different career path, heading to the University of Birmingham where she studied Law with French Law. However, the pandemic proved a turning point. With her year abroad cancelled, she found herself with time to explore other interests, leading her to discover her passion for writing. Towards the end of her degree, she began working as a Features Writer for The Publishing Post, where she collaborated with a small team to produce bi-weekly articles on trending topics within the publishing industry.
Her interest in social media content creation grew during lockdown, when she began building an online community around her love for books, sharing reviews and partnering with publishers to promote new releases. Through this, she developed a keen interest in creating photo and short-form video content designed for social media audiences.
Holly also brings five years of hospitality experience to her role, having worked across a range of settings - from waitressing at her local restaurant to organising and catering corporate events at Le Germain Hotels during a year spent living in Canada.
In 2023, Holly joined the content team at SquareMeal as an Editorial Intern, where she assisted with day-to-day editorial tasks and feature writing. In 2024, she was promoted to Junior Writer, taking over responsibility for the Venues Newsletter and spearheading the brand’s TikTok and Instagram strategies. She now produces high-quality video content and continues to write across SquareMeal’s platforms.
Most importantly (at least to her), Holly is the founder of the SquareMeal Book Club. When she’s not writing, she can almost always be found with her nose in a book.
