Leaf

a stack of blueberry pancakes

What: Another of Bold Street's finest, Leaf is a relaxed and cosy teashop that has kept the people of Liverpool fed since 2007. With a mantra of 'where there's tea, there's hope,' Leaf is something of a loose-leaf tea specialist, hence the name, but that doesn't mean they don't know a thing or two about breakfast. Keep things traditional with cinnamon toast and American style pancakes, or push the boat out with more unique options likr huevos rotos with spicy scrambled eggs and borlotti beans or turkish eggs with garlic and dill yoghurt and chilli brown butter.

The Watering Can

plate of french toast and coffee (left), vegetarian full English breakfast (right)

What: The Watering Can may be a little bit further out the way, but it's absolutely worth the journey in our opinion. Take a seat in the sheltered conservatory and soak up the sun first thing in the morning, surrounded by hanging plants and greenery as well as eye-catching views of Greenbank Park. Seasonally focused menus are concise but indulgent, with dishes such as smoked salmon and whipped goats’ cheese on toast with thyme honey and pickled beetroot, and salted caramel french toast with whipped brown butter and vanilla cream.
