The town of Rochford is located in Essex, with stories and history that stretch back for centuries. Rochford was once known to be the centre of trade in the country, and during the Tudor period was a place that was marked by royal history. The famous Boleyn family owned Rochford Hall from 1515, which is thought to be the very place that King Henry VIII saw Anne Boleyn for the first time. This meet would evolve into one of the most tumultuous and fascinating parts of history in the years that followed, and whilst it is not suggested that Anne lived in Rochford, she certainly would have visited throughout her lifetime. You can also pay a visit to the site of a Norman castle at Rayleigh Mount, and spend some time at the 18th century Dutch Cottage, for a true historical tour of Rochford.
