Coventry is located in central England and is a city that is rich in history and culture. Two of the country’s big universities lie in Coventry, Warwick and Coventry, and so it’s no surprise that the city has a very fun, student community. Coventry’s city centre has a fantastic history and a culture rich present. You will notice that the city is fairly unique in having three cathedrals, each with a distinct story – the ruins of St. Mary's Cathedral reveals its destruction during the reign of Henry VIII, and St. Michael's Cathedral which was heavily damaged in the November 1940 blitz, symbolises the city's resilience and strength. Completing the trio is the modern masterpiece designed by Sir Basil Spence, which was built in 1962. This newer cathedral is well known for its architectural brilliance, and was voted Britain's most popular 20th century building.
