One of the most loved market towns in Derbyshire, Chesterfield is known for its distinctive Crooked Spire. Dominating the skyline in Chesterfield, this spire is surrounded by numerous local legends that all question what may have made it such an unusual shape. When it comes to shopping, Chesterfield has plenty to offer, and aside from the big brands you'll find, there are the beautiful Market Halls and a very cobbled Market Place, which is home to one of the largest open air markets in the country. A plot to overthrow King James II was hatched in the now aptly named Revolution House at Old Whittington back in 1688, and more of Chesterfield's culture and history can be embraced at the Barrow Hill Roundhouse, and the Chesterfield Museum and Art Gallery, along with at the National Trust's stunning Elizabethan Hardwick Hall.
