Yes, Billericay is the home of the Shipman's in the British classic, Gavin and Stacey, but is also home to much of Essex's rich history. The Battle of Billericay took place in 1381, when during the Peasants' Revolt the Essex rebels were defeated by King Richard II's forces. A few centuries later, a handful of Billericay locals sailed to Massachusetts on the Mayflower to establish the first English settlement, in a place that would become known as the United States of America. Billericay is said to have a great sense of community, and offers a peaceful way of life. Although, you aren't too far away from many of Essex’s bigger towns and cities, when here, in the heart of the county.
