As one of the historic market towns in Hertfordshire, it's easy to see why wedding venues in Berkhamsted are so popular. The town is just 26 miles outside London but feels much more rural. During the 13th and 14th centuries, Berkhamsted was a famous wool trading town with a busy market, and around a similar time, Edward, the Black Prince is thought to have loved visiting Berkhamsted for its castle. In fact, from 1066 to 1495, Berkhamsted Castle was a favoured residence of many royal figures, including King Henry II. There's a great cafe culture in Berkhamsted and paired with beautiful cobbled streets and independent shops, the town is as charming as it is rich in history.
