The quirky décor, exciting menus and fun atmosphere are all things that have added to the success of Zizzi’s over the years. Located in the Gloucester Quays development with lovely riverside views, enjoy a meal at Zizzi after spending a day in Gloucester browsing the sights or hitting the shops at the outlet.
The menu includes starters of calamari, garlic bread and the exciting rainbow-coloured gnocchi, all great for sharing. On the main menu try the Spiedini Pollo, a hanging skewer filled with chicken and vegetables with a plate of salad and new potatoes underneath – definitely a change from your regular Italian dishes. If vertical dishes don’t quite appeal to you, opt for the lemon butter sea bass, pollo prosciutto or a pizza or pasta dish, because you can never go wrong with the classics.
To accompany you meal, pick from one of the many exciting soft drink options. You may not even miss cocktails, but if they are a must with dinner, the Ciao Bella – with strawberry daiquiri, vodka and amaretto will keep you meal on theme.
For us, ordering dessert is a given, but if you tend to skip a sweet ending when you go out you might re-consider after seeing the Zizzi dessert menu. Try the sticky chocolate and praline torte, or the Prosecco panna cotta, which is sure to get you suitably buzzed. The espresso affogato and tiramisu are also worth a try – they are the most traditional of Italian desserts after all.
The open theatre-style kitchen means that you can watch your meal being cooked from start to finish, if you really want to. But with so many comfy and stylish seating options, and its signature indoor tree installations, Zizzi is the place to go for catch ups with friends, dates and family dinners alike.
