Stratton House Hotel is located in beautiful Cirencester, in the Cotswolds. This independent and family-owned country house hotel has a very welcoming feel to it, and has a beautiful restaurant that is open to guests and visitors. The Garden restaurant has stunning views over the walled garden and offers a seasonal menu that features the best of modern British cuisine – including afternoon tea and a Sunday roast.
The team at the Garden Restaurant isn't just focused on getting food out on the tables; they pay great attention to the ingredients used, tastes, and textures. Breakfast is served from 7.30am, lunch begins at midday and dinner is between the hours of 6 and 9pm. Starters include Cotswold white egg with grilled asparagus with hollandaise sauce, grilled king oyster mushrooms with crispy shallot rings, watercress puree and toasted pine nuts, and smoked duck breast with fennel salad and fig dressing. On the main menu at The Garden Restaurant there are options of pressed Cotswold lambs belly with baba ghanoush aubergine puree, pomegranate, mint, toasted pine nuts and grilled tenderstem, Chicken milanese with rocket and parmesan salad with new potatoes in garlic butter and mussels with coconut cream, fresh lime, chilli and fries.
There are some wonderful desserts too, including creme brulee with homemade shortbread, a chocolate brownie with chocolate sauce and black forest crunch ice cream, and apple crumble with creme Anglaise. On a Sunday start with sticky pigs cheek with toasted brioche and Asian slaw, followed by roast sirloin, chicken supreme or vegetarian Wellington with all the trimmings, including plenty of rich gravy and a fluffy Yorkie. For some extra indulgence, order the Parmesan and truffle fries on the side.
