Japanese ramen merchant Yamagoya has long been a fixture of London’s pop-up scene, but this is the first permanent site for the outfit. The stripped-back interior compliments the quick and casual service which sees diners order from a counter. Snacks include a seaweed and edamame salad, and chicken karaage with yuzu mayo. Yamagoya’s signature ramens are also present, with toppings featuring the likes of pork belly, marinated bamboo shoot, wood-ear mushroom and marinated egg. Cold varieties cooked in cold water are available too, topped with either chicken or tofu. Come dessert, there’s the Instagram-friendly raindrop cake (which is completely clear and shaped like a water droplet), while drinks are covered via a selection of house wines, beers and saké. For diners in a rush, Yamagoya offers a short takeaway menu, which includes Japanese-style sandwiches filled with chicken katsu and chicken chashu.
