Waterloo Gardens Teahouse opened its doors in 2008 with a guiding principle centred on upholding a friendly relationship between the teahouse and its customers. Serving as the pulsating core of Waterloo Tea, this teahouse embraces a commitment to maintaining a meaningful and reciprocal relationship with all of those who walk through the door. Waterloo Tea is known amongst locals for the place to be to enjoy the world's finest teas in Cardiff. With a selection of the best teas of each origin and processing style, there is a tea to suit every taste at Waterloo Tea.
In the teahouse, food is served until 3pm. Customers can choose from warmed banana bread with espresso spread and a bowl of granola with coconut, almond and chocolate, Greek yoghurt, rhubarb, strawberry and jasmine compote. Brunch brioches contain a variety of fillings, such as the Merguez sausage and fried egg with mint labneh. Mains offer something for everyone, with dishes of ras el hanout roasted cauliflower, sriracha mayo, vine tomato, chermoula, baby gem and in a brioche bun with a side salad.
Whilst all of the teas are available to purchase and enjoy at home, its great to try them in the teahouse so that you can get a taste for what you love. Choose from classics like Waterloo Breakfast and Matcha, to less well known teas of Sherbet Lemon and High Grade Peony. Fruit and herbal teas include the elderflower berry and peppermint rooibos, as well as tangerine ginger and yerba mate.
Try the afternoon tea for a classic British experience. It can make the perfect outing for a special occasion, with vegan options too. The delicious looking menu starts with savoury pairings of cheddar, pickled red onion and red onion marmalade sandwich, with a savoury scone and avocado. For your sweets, enjoy milk chocolate mousse with roasted hazelnut, praline and crunchy magnum glaze, and an apple and salted caramel macaron. Of course, there are plenty of freshly baked scones, clotted cream, jam and tea of choice.
