Terra Mare is opened its doors in October 2024 in Cardiff, bringing authentic Italin cuisine, as well as classic Italian flair and style to the Welsh capital. The space already looks impressive and is the kind of place you could meet friends for a cosy catch up, bring your team after work or even plan a date, with mood lighting and soft ambience.
The space is both open and full of atmosphere, boasting first a statement bar set against deep green walls, with globe pendant lighting, a stunning marble bar-top and high, orange seating. Here, you can take a perch or prop up the bar, and try a carefully curated selection of Italian wines, complemented by Champagne and Prosecco by the glass. The team are also in the midst of crafting their bespoke cocktail menu, designed to work with the food offering, too.
Speaking of which, while the menu hasn't yet been announced, we know it will be true to Italian cuisine and follow a traditional format including small bites of cicchetti which are perfectly enjoyed with a classic cocktail, progressing through antipasti for starters and then primi piatti first course, where pasta will take the lead. For those who are still hungry, the secondi piatti, which is the main course, will include meat and fish-based dishes, and finally there's dolce for dessert.
Terra Mare’s menu will be inspired by the vibrant flavours and time-honoured techniques of southern Italy and particularly Puglia, thanks to the proud roots of Chef Francesco Germinario, whose family hails from here. A must-try for sure is the selection of fresh pastas, and each day, two kinds of pasta will be crafted in-house for guests to enjoy.
The over-all style will mean that whether you fancy a quick bite or a few cicchetti before going out, or you're in it for the long-haul, this is a gorgeous dining experience with a relaxed feel.
