Aura is a new restaurant to hit the Cardiff dining scene, located inside the historic Coal Exchange in Cardiff Bay. This bar and brasserie style restaurant is the perfect place to for an after work dinner, or celebratory meal with loved ones where you can savour delicious all-day dining with fresh ingredients at the heart.
Whilst you wait, try the Maldon oysters with chimichurri and selection of cured Italian meats. Starters include spiced squash soup with coriander and lime falafel, steak tartare with quail egg and sourdough crisp, and grilled king prawns with a caper lemon butter. For your main, there are eight options to choose from, including a Welsh lamb rump with lamb belly, creamed potato and squash, steamed mussels with nduja, Welsh cider, toasted sourdough and fries, and hake with pancetta, mussels and a leek and white bean stew.
From the grill, you've got a range of delicious cuts, including a 1kg cote de boeuf for two, with peppercorn, bearnaise or garlic butter, fries, shallot and watercress salad. Polish things off with a delicious dessert, such as the sticky toffee pudding with Barti Ddu caramel sauce and clotted ice cream, or blackberry and pecan creme brulee. There's also a great selection of ice cream and sorbets, along with a Welsh cheese board with port and grape chutney, celery and crackers.
On Sundays you can enjoy the special roast. If you're going for three courses, begin with a chicken liver pate with chutney, a radish and cornichon salad and sourdough, before the roasted picanha of beef with a Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes, root vegetable hash, seasonal greens, red cabbage and gravy. Last but not least, it's a creamy white chocolate and passion fruit posset.
