Tudor Barn in Eltham is a truly unique dining experience, as it holds the distinction of being the only existing Tudor Barn in London. Dating back to the 16th century, Tudor Barn is a real gem in Royal Greenwich. Amongst 13 acres of parkland, and surrounded by a mediaeval moat, lies the beautiful barn with a gastro pub and restaurant inside, which is great for casual dining.
Hearty food is prepared daily and served fresh in a picturesque setting at Tudor Barn, with food served in the restaurant between 12 and 9.30pm Wednesday to Saturday, and Sunday roasts between 12 and 6.30pm. If you’re in the mood for something sweet, you may be drawn in by Tudor Barn’s afternoon tea, priced at £18.95 per person and available between 12 and 5pm Wednesday through to Saturday. Good old pork scratchings are a favourite for the table at Tudor Barn, really beginning that traditional British country pub experience.
Mains range from a classic caesar salad and beer battered fish and chips to crispy pork belly topped with burnt apple puree and the pie of the day. Signature cocktails, such as a Piña Colada, Negroni and Mojito, are two for £12 between 5 and 7pm Wednesday through to Saturday, when ordering two of the same. There’s also a carefully curated selection of wines to perfectly complement the menu.
If the weather is on your side during your visit, the gardens at Tudor Barn make a lovely spot to enjoy your dining al fresco or sip some summery cocktails before a leisurely stroll around the grounds. If you’re faced with a typical British downpour, fear not. Head inside to be greeted by a roaring fireplace.
