The Welsh House is an independent restaurant and bar that has a process of carefully selecting the very best from within Wales, and serving it to customers in the most beautiful form – food. Dining at The Welsh House means that you know you will get a dish that is made with locally produced, fresh and flavoursome ingredients. The menu is wholesome and generous, and takes inspiration from traditional Welsh dishes, yet with a twist. The intention here is to serve customers good food that is cooked brilliantly, with skill, and for a reasonable price.
For the table, try some Welsh cockle popcorn with a laverbread mayonnaise, or the leek and Welsh cheddar Welsh cakes. If you want something to dip, try the artisan bread with Shirgar Welsh salted butter and a selection of Pembrokeshire oils. Starters include the roasted butternut squash and sweet potato soup with Pant-Ys-Gawn goats cheese and crouton, The Welsh House pot of pig with toast and Celtic preserve piccalilli, and Glamorgan rissole with leek and Caerphilly cheese and Welsh Lady brown sauce.
Mains are just as impressive, and begin with The Welsh House shepherd's pie with seasonal vegetables. Next up is the macaroni cheese with a rich and creamy cheese sauce, Perl las cheese, aged Italian hard cheese, soft boiled free range Welsh egg and panko breadcrumbs, along with traditional Welsh faggots with creamy mash, buttered peas and rich onion gravy.
There is also a special board of daily changing dishes depending on availability and seasonality, along with a set menu called a Taste of Wales. On a Sunday, you can enjoy a traditional Sunday roast between 12 and 6pm, with the finest quality cuts of meat and locally sourced sides.
