Following the success of their first four pubs, Peter Creed and Tom Noest bring their celebrated country pub formula to the streets of Cheltenham at The Tivoli. Situated on Andover Road, the cozy decor and hearty menu create the feeling of a remote, countryside dwelling, perfect long Sunday lunches.
On the menu you can expect to find a mixture of pub classics, alongside some more unexpected options. Fish and chips, bangers and mash, and the cheeseburger are all elevated to new heights in this celebration of British food. The menu even contains nods to the country's culinary history, serving up devilled kidneys on toast, a popular breakfast of the Victorian era. Quintessentially English dishes are joined by ingredients and dishes from farther afield, like the Iberico pork bavette, and panzanella salad with buffalo mozzarella. The Tivoli embrace a seasonal approach to cooking, making the most of local produce, and adopt a 'nose-to-tail' philosophy to meat, utilising oft forgotten or discarded cuts.
The bar menu adopts the same approach, with a mix of British favourites alongside a selection Spanish tapas-inspired bites. Enjoy the best of both worlds by pairing your pint with a Cotswold rarebit and a plate of padron peppers. If you are looking for something more substantial, The Tivoli offers a small selection of lunch specials, including an Iberico pork sandwich inspired by Peter Creeds time in Portugal.
The menu also boasts an impressive grill section, with offerings from a local 10oz ribeye to turbot. Each of the grilled options are served with a side of triple cooked chips, green salad and bone marrow butter. Come with a healthy appetite, and a friend to share the whole roasted chicken and aioli with. For vegetarians, there is a gnocchi dish served with girolles, peas and Corra Linn cheese.
The venue hosts an impressively large bar, with a beer selection to match. There are various local brews on tap, including offerings from Cheltenham based Deya Brewery. Owners Peter and Tom collaborated with Deya Brewery to create their own IPA, Publican IPA. The wine list is equally inspiring, with many natural, organic and bio-dynamic options available.
