We found this fabulous little spot to relax while enjoying a spectacular brunch – “The Table” is just a hop, skip and jump down the road from us in Southwark.
With the weather being a tad on the chilly side last Sunday, we were lucky enough to find two bar stools at the end of a communal table inside. The Table's decor is trendy, stylish and sophisticated, while the menu offers a combination of both sweet and savoury, including classics like Eggs Benedict, Smoked Salmon with scrambled eggs or yummy Buttermilk Pancakes – guaranteed to please any breakfast junkie!
My husband ordered Eggs Benedict “two poached eggs served on toasted organic muffin with smoked streaky bacon, and the best hollandaise sauce on Southwark Street”. They weren't lying about that. The eggs arrived with soft runny bright yellow yolks and the hollandaise sauce was satiny, smooth textured, fluffy & light, in other words, flawless! (Trust me, I am very finicky!)
I opted to try the sweetcorn fritter stack – “sweetcorn fritters with char-grilled tomato compote, baby-leaf spinach and two poached eggs with hollandaise”. A stack full of yumminess indeed! The combination of flavours was sensational, the tomatoes were sweet and bursting with intense flavour and the eggs were poached to perfection.
The side orders were too tempting to resist (as if we didn't have enough on our plates already) – we decided to go with the trio package of hand-made pork and leek sausages, home-made ham-hock-infused baked beans & lastly, char-grilled San Marzano tomatoes. Comfort food indeed… to help get your tastebuds dancing!!!
We loved our brunch at The Table and will definately go back there sometime soon, perhaps even to try out their lunch, or dinner menu. The service was good and we enjoyed the bustling vibe.
This is the ultimate weekend brunch spot!
