Swigg is a fun, colourful harbourside bar and kitchen that sits right next door to the National Waterfront Museum in Swansea Marina. Here, food is crafted with a variety of local produce that has been sourced from the Gower and South Wales regions, cooked by talented chefs, and served on small plates. Swigg stands for South West inner green grounds, and is apparently named after a light buoy on the seas of Swansea Bay. Inside, you'll find artwork from local artists that reflect the history behind the restaurant's name, and be able to enjoy the open plan, industrial and seaside feel to the venue. The restaurant is open every day of the week except on a Monday.
Swigg brunch is served on weekends between 10am and noon, and begins with a bang. Enjoy the Swigg breakfast with two sausages, two rashers of bacon, some beans, fried eggs, sauteed mushrooms, fried potatoes, black pudding, roasted vine tomatoes and a delicious toasted sweet potato bread. For something a bit different, try the breakfast taters, which are hashed potatoes topped with cheese sauce, bacon bits, sausage pieces, baked beans, a fried egg, tomato ketchup and spring onions. Wraps, sandwiches and bagels are all also on the menu, including toast dishes topped with chive cream cheese, crispy pork skin, poached eggs, honey and prosciutto. The pancheesecake sweet dish is made with buttermilk pancakes, raspberry and mint compote, sweetened cream cheese, shortbread crumb and delicious maple syrup.
Depending on when you plan on visiting, you may find yourself surrounded by the sweet sounds of live music, a lively quiz night on a Thursday, or being able to enjoy happy hour on Wednesday and Sunday.
