The Smugglers Den Inn is a 16th century thatched pub in Newquay, that has both indoor and outdoor dining areas, along with a beer garden and children's play area. This inn is located in the picturesque hamlet of Trebellan near Cubert, and if the location wasn't charming enough, you'll be delighted by the menu. Only the freshest ingredients are used in the kitchen, and locals regard the specials board as something pretty special.
Starters and sharers are much of the same on the Smugglers' menu, and include a seafood platter with smoked mackerel, king prawns, smoked salmon, a mixed salad, horseradish mayo and Marie Rose dip, along with the soup of the day, and Thai honey halloumi tacos with Asian slaw, crispy onions and coriander. From midday until 5pm, ciabattas are served with salad, and include brie and caramelised onion, and a traditional BLT, along with a pub classic with a twist – a beer battered fish burger with chips, lettuce, tomato and tartare sauce.
Mains are served all day and include the sweet potato, spinach and chickpea jalfrezi with basmati rice and naan bread, the oriental bean burger, and wholetail scampi. In the evening, there are some additional mains, including the braised blade of beef with buttered mash, vegetables and gravy, and Malaysian chicken with a curry sauce, rice, prawns crackers and coriander. There are some gorgeous puddings to choose from, including a sticky toffee pudding, lemon meringue pie and chocolate pecan option, along with a selection of special cheesecakes, profiteroles with caramel and chocolate sauce, a warm cherry lattice pie and more. If you prefer to leave the meal on a savoury note, enjoy a wonderful cheeseboard as your final course.
