The Royal Duchy Hotel is one of Cornwall's finest luxury hotels, situated in Falmouth on the seafront, and has gorgeous views across to Pendennis Castle. From the moment you arrive, you'll be met with the most luxury, and whilst most people visit as guests of the hotel, the restaurant serves some of the finest Cornish cuisine paired with the most delicious wines. The restaurant holds two AA Rosettes for its wonderful dining, and is a member of the Trencherman's Guide.
Menus at The Royal Duchy are designed to reflect what is best available during each season, and whilst they always revisit traditional recipes, you'll usually find something more contemporary on the menu. To start your dinner, enjoy the white onion and thyme soup with toasted onion seeds, or the prawn and ginger ravioli with coriander, spinach and shellfish foam. Other starters include the chicken leg pressing with smoked carrot, pickled and watercress, and the warm goats cheese with apple, pear and cider vinegar. There are a great number of mains to choose from, each chosen for their quality and burst of flavour. The melody of Cornish fish is paired with white wine, fennel and spring onions, and the glazed duck breast comes with cavolo nero with rosti potatoes, plum jam and pancetta. The burnt shallot tart is served with beetroot custard and pickled walnuts, and the spatchcock chicken comes coated in chilli, garlic and lemon, with sauteed potatoes and spicy aioli.
Now it’s time for dessert. Try the white chocolate panna cotta with autumn berries and strawberry sorbet, or the pistachio parfait with a dark chocolate fudge cake and creme fraiche sorbet. Totally and utterly divine!
