Following a 1950s-style cosmetic titivation, this former Corney & Barrow branch now follows the branding of other City bars owned by Drake & Morgan (The Folly, The Happenstance). Cocktails are served in great numbers here: La Magia (Don Julio Tequila, lime, butterfly pea tea and agave), bourbon-based Milk & Cookies, and A Fine Pear (Snow Queen vodka, Xante pear liqueur and lemon). After a good week on the markets, or in defiance of Brexit perhaps, there are also plenty of takers for Prosecco (from £28) and Champagne; the price tag of £40 for Justerini & Brooks’ own-label Epernay NV fizz doubtless helps fuel high demand. Order wine from under £5 per glass with various bar platters, cheeseburger (£8.95), calamari, or chicken satay. The all-day food choice also embraces steaks, salads, butternut squash risotto, fish pie and Thai curries, as well as breakfast (English- and American-style) and a kids’ menu.
