Wapping Wharf has been a huge success since the new Cargo2 development moved in, and this little island in the middle of the city is now home to a handful of the best restaurants in Bristol. One of those restaurants is The Olive Shed - a lovely little Mediterranean spot that boasts a fantastic waterside location. Whilst most of Wapping Wharf's restaurants have great views of the river, few can claim to have an outdoor terrace that stretches right up to the waterside.
The Olive Shed specialises in tapas dishes, but also serves some more broadly Mediterranean plates alongside. The menu kicks off with snacks like boquerones and olives, before heading into a selection of vegetable, fish and meat dishes. Vegetable dishes include the likes of charred leeks with chermoula and za'atar, and tortilla with aioli. Fish dishes meanwhile, include prawns with garlic and lemon, and fried cockles with aioli, and grey mullet with spinach and rhubarb, and on the meat front there's lamb with spiced yoghurt and pomegranate and Iberico bavette with quince and oregano. On top of all that there's charcuterie and cheese too, as well as a handful of specials.
Move away from the tapas menu and there's an a la carte menu too, which allows for guests to have a more traditional three course menu of starters, mains and desserts.
On the drinks front, The Olive Shed has a curated list of European wines, as well as a handful of sherries available by the glass, and cocktails, sangria, beer and cider.
