Sonny Stores is located in the vibrant heart of Southville, Bristol. This is more than just a restaurant – it's a family run spot with a distinctive Italian touch. The inviting space offers a sunny feel, perfect for a lunch time plate of pasta or a three course meal that is paired with a delightful bottle of organic wine.
The beginning of Sonny Stores emerged in September following the national lockdown, as a creative venture by the dynamic duo, Mary Glynn and Pegs Quinn. Their initial intro, The Lockdown Pizza Company, started by selling pizzas from home during the lockdown. However, as the nation embarked on a new beginning, Mary and Pegs envisioned a place that would not only please the community with a diverse menu of seasonal Italian cuisine but also radiate positivity and warmth. Pegs has a rich history in food, with a journey spanning 18 years, delving into the intricacies of Italian cooking during his time at The River Cafe in London from 2014 to 2018. Now, as the proud owner of Sonny Stores, he channels his passion into crafting menus that embrace the essence of truly seasonal and ingredient focused dishes, changing daily to capture the best produce available.
The menu begins with potato bread served with hot honey, pancetta and Neal’s Yard crème fraîche, before moving on to garlic bruschetta with creamy burrata and Felsina new season olive oil. Main meals include the Dover sole with broad beans sott’olio, anchovy and rosemary, along with farinata made with charred friggitelli peppers and borlotti beans. When it comes to dessert, try the dark chocolate and hazelnut rye cake, or the pistachio, apricot and brown butter tart with double cream.
