The Old Market Assembly is an event venue in Bristol, but is not just famed for its weddings and gigs, as it has a great kitchen serving up a top notch menu. The options include sharing plates, pizzas and seasonal specials. The Spanish head chef, Moi, and their team, are proud to use ingredients and produce sourced locally and sustainably where possible. They truly do love to celebrate the best of local and independent businesses.
Pizzas are available Monday through to Saturday and are made fresh in house, with Neapolitan style bases, homemade marinara sauce and grated mozzarella. There are options of the queen margherita with mozzarella di bufala, grated Somerset pecorino and fresh basil, pepperoni and the caponata with roasted aubergines, peppers, kalamata olives, capers and a balsamic glaze. The sharing plates are available Thursday, Friday and Saturday, and include the Kentucky fried oyster mushrooms in a spiced batter with porcini aioli, roasted and charred cauliflower with creamy beetroot puree, and beef croquettes with dijon mustard aioli.
On Sundays there is a fabulous roast menu. Starters include a soup of the day, wild mushroom arancini and burrata with pesto genovese. The roast options include 28 day aged silverside of beef, cracked skin roasted pork belly, 16 hour slow cooked shoulder of lamb, a squash, aubergine and celeriac Wellington and nut roast. Each comes with crispy roast potatoes, seasonal greens, braised red cabbage, roast veg, squash puree, a Yorkshire pudding and deliciously rich gravy. If you stick around for dessert, order the sticky toffee pudding with warm caramel sauce and ice cream, or Granny Gothard's award winning Devonshire ice cream in raspberry sorbet, chocolate chuckles or strawberries and cream.
