Skimming the edges of Hampstead Heath, the Old Bull & Bush is the gastropub of choice for the discerning denizens of NW11 & NW3. Its spacious interior is suitably distinguished, with abundant glossy wood & leather armchairs, while the bar dispenses artisan drinks such as Vedett Extra Blond, margaritas made with Don Alvaro organic Tequila, & G&Ts mixed with Fever Tree tonic. Med-focused wines feature plenty below £20, plus many options by the glass. On Thursdays, bottles of house Champagne cost just £20, with Prosecco at £15. The food won’t wow, but there’s a reasonable international choice: spit-roasted chicken, lamb koftas, & blackened cod with mango chilli salsa, along with salads, pastas & stone-baked pizzas. Barbecues are held on the big front terrace: an idyllic spot, were it not road-facing.
