Originally a 16th century coaching inn, The New Inn is a hyper seasonal British restaurant showcasing the best produce Hereford has to offer in a charming and relaxed setting. Running the kitchen is chef Thomas Leak, whose passion for local produce, wild food, fermenting and dry aging is clear across the menus. Voted 'Midlands Gastro Pub of the Year 2024', The New Inn specialises in vibrant and comforting dishes created according to what's in season and available from local producers. The warm and cosy dining room features roaring fires, exposed brick walls, comfortable booths and plenty of original features, creating a rustic country feel.
The constantly-changing menus comprise modern British dishes, with the a la carte featuring the likes of crab crumpets with carrot remoulade, dill and mango, and aged beef tartare with Worcestershire sauce shallot rings and oyster mayonnaise. For the main course, there might be organic pork tenderloin, belly and cheek with carrots and apple ketchup, plus vegetarian options like agnolotti with mushroom pate, girolle mushrooms, Australian winter truffle and carrot veloute.
For a more casual meal, guests can head to The New Inn on a Sunday to try the Sunday lunch menu, with classic roasts served with all the trimmings. Or, simply pop in for a drink and bar snack such as charcuterie, soup of the day or chicken liver parfait with bacon jam and brioche.
The carefully curated wine list is the perfect accompaniment to your meal, featuring well known global labels, many available by the glass, reasonably priced bottles, and English sparkling wine. During the summer months, the beer garden is open where guests can enjoy a refreshing local ale and food off the open grill.
