For a family run pub affair in Leominster, look no further than Allie and Jed’s joint. The Monkland Arms is a village pub with its community at the heart of it. Tuesday and Thursday the restaurant is closed, but every other day, you can expect to find beautiful home cooked dishes, made using the freshest of local produce. The Monkland Arms are really open about what local businesses they buy from and support, including the Wye Valley Brewery, Teme Dairy and Howard Moseley Butchers.
The Monkland Arms also run monthly music sessions, including an acoustic set of tunes, poetry and stories on the first Friday of the month, The Monkland session on the third Sunday, an evening of tune and step, and the Americana on the third Wednesday.
On the lunch menu, expect to find plenty of classics. Choose from the honey roast ham with egg and chips, a delicious meat or vegetable pasty, fresh soup and an artisan baked roll, and some creamy garlic mushrooms on home baked toast. When dinner time swings around, the menu gets a little fancier. Choose from a homemade curry with rice, chips and naan bread, a burger of beef, lamb or vegetable stack, and some delicious chilli with rice and sour cream. Don't forget about the sides! There are cheesy chips and onion rings on the menu. For dessert, finish off with a sticky toffee pudding, seasonal crumble and custard or cheesecake with fresh fruit and cream.
If you like your dining experience at The Monkland Arms, you'll be pleased to find the Emporium inside. A small shop filled with cards and gifts, locally made produce which makes the perfect treat and token of memory, and various garden items.
