Find the Mere Scribbler right opposite Streatham Common and pay the pub a visit to watch your favourite sporting matches in the quaint beer garden. The modern interior gives off a homely feel with warm lighting, exposed brick walls, and comfy grey lounge chairs. Look around and discover quirky artworks that add life, colour and brighten up the area, living up to its name. Spot the dog sculpture too for a cute accent, telling of its dog-friendly nature.
Stop by the Mere Scribbler for wholesome pub fare, drinks and plenty of sporting hubbub with TV screens scattered throughout the pub. The garden offers a relaxing spot to soak up the sun while enjoying the daytime menu with picture perfect pops of blue, a graffiti art feature, festoon lighting, greenery on trellises, a metal gazebo and other ornate garden furniture and benches.
For drinks, the classic cocktail menu is split into the different spirit types, making choosing something you like much easier and includes a few mocktails for those not drinking. Start dining with nachos for the table or a small plate of Korean-style chicken tenders and a chorizo and sausage Scotch egg. For mains, pick one of the burgers such as a blackened miso fish burger with miso lime mayonnaise, any of the pub favourites of sausages and mash or fish and chips. Finish your meal with a vegan banana cake and salted caramel ice-cream, a mixed berry Eton mess or sticky toffee pudding.
This child-friendly pub gives the little ones a menu to colour in with mini options of simple pub dishes both for younger children and older kids, all coming with a glass of juice or milk. The Mere Scribbler hosts a Friday steak night and two- or three-course Sunday roasts as well as food specials from Monday to Wednesday and cocktail offers from Thursday to Saturday. The pub also does its bit for charity by donating £1 on selected dishes to the Bigkid Foundation.
