Attention-grabbing interiors are the trademark of the three-strong Lost & Found bar-restaurant brand, and Knutsford’s Victorian former town hall provides a fittingly grand exterior. On the ground floor, the high-ceilinged, ornate bar contains multiple arched entranceways and deals in cocktails (classic and contemporary), decent wine and beers (bottled and draught). To eat, head upstairs and hidden behind heavy doors there’s a well-proportioned space furnished in a mixture of bold graphic tiles and softer detailing. The all-day menu of modern pub food and pizzas attracts a well-heeled clientele. Sharing starters include a not-quite-gooey baked Camembert with onion jam and sourdough toast. To follow, sound kitchen skill ensures the success of crisp-skinned sea bream with leek and potato risotto and lemon butter sauce, but don’t succumb to the lower-cal call of half-moon sourdough pizza (being halved makes the bases dry out). For afters, try sticky toffee pudding with spiced treacle sauce.
