A handy new option for Kentish Town’s art-loving pub-goers, this young buck from the Geronimo Inns stable is pitched directly beneath the Giant Olive Theatre. Peckish culture vultures can pick the bones out of a Brit-inspired menu that includes the likes of Berkswell cheese, hazelnut & nettle tart, roasted plaice with brown shrimps, samphire & cucumber or mutton chops with butterbeans, feta &, pine nuts. Lunchtime sandwiches & Sunday roasts flesh out the repertoire, while puds range from lemon posset to chocolate fondant. To drink, expect up to five real ales, plus a trademark Geronimo wine list with almost everything available by the glass. The Lion & Unicorn’s pubby credentials also extend to a wood-panelled beer garden, regular quiz nights, Sky sport on TV, & ‘beat the clock’ food deals on Monday & Tuesday evenings (6-9pm).
