Worst service/food ever experienced.

I can't understand why this venue gets 4+ stars on other review sites? It gives a great first impression when you walk in, but that's as good as it gets.

After a friend recommended this pub for a family celebration I booked a table for 10 in their restaurant, a week in advance. I was asked to pre-order to save time on the day. No problem at all, all orders were sent 2 days ahead of our Sunday lunch booking.
Our table was booked for 3pm, we arrived at 2.45, but weren't seated until 3.40pm. Were immediately told our orders might take a while to arrive, even though we'd already waited 40 minutes to be seated. So, we asked if we could order from the 'While You Wait Menu' but were told no, as it was too busy. Not a great start. Instead, the waitress brought over 3 tiny bowls of olives and 4 slices of bread between 10 people and said that was all we could have. Rations, apparently. Even at half a slice of bread each, it was not enough to cover 10 people. Our starters finally started arriving at 4.40pm(bearing in mind our table was booked for 3pm), all except 1. The final starter arrived, after asking for it twice, when everyone else had finished theirs. During this time I had to ask for empty glasses to be cleared from the table and received wrong drinks orders. This was a family gathering and only 4 people were drinking alcohol as the rest of us had driven, so not a rowdy table. The main courses started arriving at 5.15pm. A shocking amount of time to wait, during which we saw other tables come and go. A few of the mains were cold, one of which we sent back to the kitchen and we didn't want it replaced. It had gotten to that point. Another (Trio Roast)was sent back to the kitchen to be reheated, but what returned to our table was a different roast entirely (Chicken Roast). The lunches were over salted, overcooked yorkshires and vegetables, congealed gravy, 2 small cubes of potato per roast and tepid at best. Whilst complaining to the restaurant manager about the terrible service, my family had taken matters into their own hands and left the restaurant without finishing their lunches. I however had paid £100 deposit, which I wanted to have returned to me. The restaurant manager instead asked me to put my complaint in an email and told me that he would like to offer my mum (who's 70th birthday had been completely ruined) an apology of some sort. I emailed them 3 days ago and am still waiting for a response. On reflection, I should have stayed and insisted on a refund.
I urge anyone thinking of going to this restaurant to think again. The service is terrible, the food is terrible and the customer service is terrible.

Food poisoning

I would give less than 0 stars if possible to this pub because there were so many wrong things about it. Where should I start?! Well maybe by saying AVOID AVOID AVOID!!!! We have been to this pub on Sunday 21.08.2022 together with my daughter, my husband and some friends with their daughters. We went in to check if they have a table and the guy from the entrance was extremely rude saying that we are very UNPREPARED and UNORGANISED because we haven’t booked a table ??????. However, after saying this they led us to a table for lunch(what was even the point of making that comment, only he knew, but it doesn't even matter because this was the least bad thing that happened). Once at the table, we ordered Sunday Roast and kids Sunday Roast for the kids. When I was cutting my daughter’s chicken I observed that there was blood near the chicken bone, so it was definitely not cooked enough, however, I decided not to complain about it, and gave my daughter the cooked part of the chicken, was enough for her anyways. The problems started after this because when we arrived home, both my daughter and I had loose stools and severe stomach pain (definitely food poisoning). Our friends and their daughters were also accused of loose stools, tummy pain, and vomiting caused by the food in this pub. My advice, please try to use a different pub in the area if you don't want to get food poisoning as well.

What a terrible disappointment…

Was surprised to get a last minute table at one of our favourite spots which is normally notoriously booked out especially over the weekends. Got there for noon and was further surprised to find it empty with only one table being seating during our lunch…

Oh well, settled in and ordered a berry mojito. Instead, received a glass of soda with a splash of premixed (we were later informed) mojito mix, 3 tiny mint leaves and a perfect, unbruised, eight of a lime floating in a sea of ice. Not a drop of rum to be detected anywhere… I, being a mojito fan, had a couple of sips and returned it as was particularly unpleasant and I just couldn’t drink it and asked for a glass of wine instead. The fish and chips was good but the gnocchi was neither crispy nor the pine nuts toasted, but ok serves me right for ordering an Italian dish at a pub so I let it go. Upon receiving the bill, I was charged for the mojito which I queried and it was taken off the bill. The manager then brought over the bill and proceeded to warn me, that should I order a drink in the future, I will be expected to pay for it no matter whether I’m able to drink it or not.

Not sure if the management/ownership of this pub has changed recently but needless to say, it is with great disappointment that I must cross this pub off my list and admit there will no future visit…
