The Glover Arms is in the Scottish city of Perth. Despite its relatively urban location, it retains the appearance and feel of a country pub. There’s an open fire, deep set armchairs, wooden beams. The bar is sizable and well stocked with cask ales and the beer garden is also large.
The food menu offers something to suit most tastes. To start, you can choose from the likes of king prawn cocktail, oven-baked garlic mushrooms or soup of the day. Following that, options include fish and chips, pie of the day and sausage and mash. Modern additions to the pub menu are represented by chicken and vegetable Penang curry, greens and grain salad, and seared fillet of sea bass.
Sundays are all about roasts. Meateaters can choose from turkey breast, beef sirloin, belly pork or lamb rump. Pigs in blankets are also available as a side throughout the year. For vegetarians, there’s a candied vegetable roast. All roasts are served with garlic and herb roast potatoes, thyme-roasted carrots, glazed parsnips, broccoli and unlimited gravy.
The desert menu features sticky toffee pudding, apple, blackcurrant and cherry crumble, and mulled fruit Eton mess. There’s also a kids menu and a fixed price lunch menu.
Those visiting to celebrate can also take advantage of a set menu. This offers two courses or three courses, and includes the likes of duck and orange parfait to start, 10oz rib-eye for main and chocolate brownie for dessert.
The Glover Arms is part of Vintage Inns. All pubs in the network are dog-friendly and can be booked in advance.
