With its striking black-and-white Tudor facade, the George and Dragon is an unmissable pub in every sense of the word. Located in the picturesque village of Ightham, not far from Sevenoaks and Tonbridge, it serves excellent food and drink in a genuinely historic setting - attracting visitors from far and wide.
Legend has it that this is where Guy Fawkes hatched his infamous Gunpowder Plot and was later captured after fleeing London when it failed. These days, it’s the food that provides the fireworks, with a sparkling array of delicious dishes created by the pub’s talented French chef.
Drinks, meanwhile, come courtesy of Britain’s oldest brewery - Kent’s own Shepherd Neame - and there are plenty of world wines, spirits and soft drinks too.
