From the outside, nothing would suggest that this stucco, terraced townhouse was actually a boutique hotel – & that’s how the exclusive Firmdale chain (& their customers) like it. Enquire at reception & you’ll be led through to a series of day rooms, each decorated differently but in signature style with bold colours & plush fabrics: first, a breezy drawing room decked out in lime-green & pink floral shades; next, a more masculine ‘library’, & finally the conservatory, which has a vaguely safari theme. Outside, the pretty patio garden is a summer treasure, although there are plans to extend the conservatory into this space. Drinks & afternoon tea – including dainty sandwiches, warm scones & ‘sinful’ brownies – are served in any of the communal areas, with amiable staff on hand to provide the necessary charm.
